Frequently asked questions
What are the most common questions people ask you about therapy or your approach?
People often ask me: How long are the therapy sessions? Will I find a cure for my troubles? Will you prescribe me medications? Am I a registered psychoanalyst?
The typical session duration is 50 minutes for individuals and 90 minutes for couples. When it comes to mental health, there isn’t a definitive "cure" because wellbeing is deeply personal and can only be measured subjectively. The true purpose of therapy is healing—bringing the fragmented parts of yourself back together. When we experience emotional distress, it's often because a separation has occurred within our psyche as a way of self-protection. Therapy aims to restore wholeness, not to "cure" but to help you feel complete again. As a registered psychoanalyst, I cannot prescribe medication. However, I frequently collaborate with physicians who are able to provide medical support when needed.
What makes your approach to therapy unique compared to other therapists?
I am a humanist and philosopher at heart, and my profound appreciation for human nature permeates everything I do. I strive to connect with each person on a human level, recognizing that we are all unique individuals. I don't categorise, I don't put you in a mold.
Are there any misconceptions you'd like to clear up about therapy or mental health in general?
Mental health is not about a "cure," but about fostering well-being. It's about building confidence in yourself and your emotions, so you're not afraid of feeling sad, angry, or hurt. There are no inherently negative emotions; all emotions are valid and deserve space to be honoured. Healing is about integrating the self, becoming comfortable with the repressed parts of ourselves that cause emotional struggles.
What should someone expect during their first therapy session with you?
During our first session, you can expect to delve into what's currently bothering you. We'll focus on building trust and getting to know each other, so we can slowly work on identifying the root causes, not just the symptoms, of what ails you.
Are the sessions only online?
Yes, at the moment I am only seeing clients online
I want to commit to therapy sessions but I can't afford them. Do you have any options for me?
I collaborate with clients from around the globe, catering to a wide range of financial situations. To ensure accessibility, I offer a sliding scale payment option for a limited number of clients who can provide valid proof of financial hardship.
